Maxwell Render is a recognised standard in architectural visualisation, product design, jewellery, film production, scientific research and other high-end rendering markets, and the leader in render quality.

Basics & Beyond video series The most comprehensive video tutorial series available for Maxwell Render 3.x Subscribers to this tutorial series will not only gain access to the video tutorials but also have 1 year access to a private forum where they can ask questions about subjects discussed in the videos as well as receive help and guidance on their scene setups, materials and lighting. The combination of video tutorials + personal coaching, is the best way to not only get up and running with Maxwell Render, but also towards mastering it.

Instructor My name is Mihai Iliuta, and I'm a renderoholic. I caught the render bug around 2002, first using Mental Ray and trying other renderers, until one morning in 2004 when I stumbled upon Maxwell Render's brand new website and saw the very first renders of the early beta. Renders that astounded me and everyone else in the 3D rendering world. 10 minutes later I bought the very first beta and have been using Maxwell Render exclusively for about 10 years on various product design, archviz and personal projects. From 2009-2015 I worked for Next Limit Technologies where I was responsible among other things for quality control and testing of Maxwell Render and collaborating closely with the development team on the implementation of new features and workflows. I'm a ' for Maxwell Render. I am now running this site, which I hope in time will become a hub of useful information and content dedicated to Maxwell Render.

Close. Close. My suggestion is this: CPU i7 6700K (Good performance for the price) GPU GTX 1070 (Almost as fast as the GTX 1080 but about half the price. Later when Maxwell 4 supports multiple GPU rendering, you can always buy a second GTX 1070 and have really fast rendering) As much RAM as you can afford. 24/32 GB should be ok.

Get two 2TB drives so you can use one for backup. For the OS and system get an SSD of 256 GB so the OS and your apps open fast. All this should be below 2000 USD. About Maxwell rendering on the GPU which was introduced in V4 – keep in mind that for now it’s still really a work in progress and not all features work on the GPU. But once they do – you should see a lot faster rendering on the GPU compared to CPU, especially for you since you do product/design renders.

So invest in the latest GPU series which is the 10xx from Nvidia which uses their newest “Pascal” architecture. This way you are sure that your computer is future proof for a long time and like I mentioned you can invest later in a second GPU card when Maxwell will be able to render on multiple GPUs (currently it can only use one card even if you have two or more in your computer). Certainly, put as much RAM on your computer (or laptop) as it will hold. It makes a huge difference in manipulating your scene elements, and a significant difference in rendering. By the way, the current nVidia 1070 and 1080 pretty much perform as well as a Xeon card (or card set). But they are substantially cheaper.

If you intend to purchase an nVidia 1070 or 1080, try to select the version with the most cores your money allows. I’ve got a Xeon on one machine and a new 1080 on another, with otherwise identical cpus and ram and motherboards. There is no discernable difference in processing ability and render times between the new 1080 and the slightly older Xeon card.

Next Limit of Spain, the makers of high-end professional 3D software, has announced that the popular Maxwell Render photorealistic rendering software program is available free to students and faculty. Maxwell Render is a leader in the ultra photorealistic rendering field and is renowned across the CG industry from design and architectural visualization to animation, VFX, and creative digital arts. The company notes that using Maxwell Render gives students and their portfolio the edge they need to stick start their careers in the competitive CG industries. “I am year 4 of the 5 year program,” says Amanda Moor, student at UCL, The Bartlett School of Architecture. “We mainly use Maxwell Render and always from the Rhino pluginOverall I would say that Maxwell is the simplest render program I’ve used at college or work and quite fast to get a good image, and the free materials library is really good also.”.
